No automatic charging cutoff, unforgivable. - Brendan -
In this day and age an appliance such and any cordless drill "from any company" should have automatic cutoff when charging. To me it's unforgivable. Other than that the drill is pretty good, but I feel strongly about this--so 1 star. Basically, if you forget about this drill when you're charging it your house could be burned down. I don't care what any comments say, that's not acceptable. People might say: "well don't forget the drill then". That's not the point-- "IF" if you do your house could be burned to the ground. The technology for automatic cutoff is simply, and really really inexpensive to add. It's not a premium feature, it's a matter of product safety. Not to mention it's an inconvenience in addition.

The drill may be good, unfortunately I cannot give a full and proper review as the two 18 volt batteries supplied run flat after five minutes usage, despite having had a full charge. Unfortunately the proceedure for obtaining a replacement, necessitates me paying the returns postage costs, which I will not do and feel is unjust and unfair.

Don't be put off by the flashy styling, or the 'made in China'. I have used one of these drills for heavy trade use every day for over two years and everything, even the batteries, is as good as new. It is light but very powerful and the 3.0AH batteries give excellent run time. I use it for driving timber fixings up to 12" long, drilling any size hole, even a 117mm diamond hole saw in soft brick. I occasionally use it for mixing plaster. It has outperformed and outlasted my Makita and Bosch 18v drills. It needed a gearbox repair last year, individual parts are available and only cost £27 fitted. Highly recommended.

I have had cordless drills and screwdrivers in the past and have become disenchanted with them. Poor power and poor battery life had me returning to my old Black & Decker and metres of flex. Not any more! Do these batteries ever need to be re-charged? The battery life is stunning, with power remaining in them for months. The charger is rapid which avoids over-charging. The drill itself is a joy to use. I think I have forgotten where the old B&D was left.

Bought this a couple of weeks ago and have used it extensively around the house for various jobs. Screwdriver is great with good control over speed to allow careful screwing. Drilling is good except when using small drill bits which seem to have a tendancy to come loose in chuck regardless of how tightly you do it up. Have only had to charge the battery once so far after quite a lot of work and am impressed with that.
